New Years New Goals

So 2012!!! Can you believe it.

So This year, my main focus will be only on my beloved Roans, I have spent the last 2 years breeding my Kinky and "mouse" dumbo traits into the line, so I'm happy to say I can now just work with one line with all my favorite traits in it. I also bred in my calico and merle line into the Roans, but i'm sure they are vanishing really in the Roans. If I get a merle out of the litters it would be awesome, but my main concern is just my Roans.

Sadly , due to the Kinky trait I have also bred in RED in the Roan line, and that is my huge pet peeve!! I hate having RED in my Roans, but i will eventually breed it out, just going to take some time. A few years maybe 2-3.. who knows. No use in rushing as my goal right now is to keep the line healthy and sweet the way they are, and improving on the traits that I have in them.

So 2012 spring litters , O My Gawd are going to be exciting!!!! can't wait to see what my snuggies will give me!!
Janine
Winter

So not really been blogging much, we had a dry phase for a few months here, it seemed like none of my planned litters were going to work, no one wanted to breed, I blame that souly on the weather. New climate, after all my rats are used to Colorado heat..LOL..
but we have had 2 healthy litters born in the last 2 weeks, which is great, I'm also going to place a merle tort litter together so that I can keep that line going, it looks like I will have some really nice litters for the summer when I rotate my breeding stock with new breeders. I'm going to end up buying two more retired cages so I can switch out my rats. I hate adopting anyone out specially since I watched them all grow up and and etc. but I'm going to have to eventually let 4-5 go to new homes..LOL.

anywhom not much going on. working all day long, rats are happy and healthy, and overly playful, will try to update more, but if I don't before xmas, Happy Holidays to everyone :)
LOVE Summer!!

So NY is growing on me, I love the green grass, the fresh smell after it rains, and the humidity in the heat. Wonderful things and best of all No spiders the size of my hands, and not dollar long centipedes!!!.. Its wonderful, Rats are doing great, I will probably have 2 more litters this summer, being that i'm working full time I don't have as much time as I would like to socialize my babies and I really don't want my adopters to have to do all that work, which they are paying for when they pay my adoption fees.

So I will have one litter at a time and do my best to make a extra hard effort to play with babies, right now after work, and horses and etc, I'm up until midnight playing with my rats, and having to get up at 6am every morning is really taking its toll, but I'm being honest and up front here to let everyone know that yes, I'm still socializing even though I'm a zombie when i'm doing it..LMAO!!

Any whom check back Mid- June for the first litter of its kind!

Roan " Mouse" dumbo, Kinkies, you won't find these anywhere else but at ARS rattery!!! Put your reserve in now so you don't miss out.
New Home, New People, NEW ways of getting lost

I have to say I love living in my apartment, rats get to run around like crazy and cause trouble. One litter at a time I keep telling my self. The NY air is fresh, dust free and most of all LOUD.. I forgot how loud airplanes are.. OMG!!! but I guess its easy to get spoiled when you live out in the middle of noooo where.

So new places, I'm in love with pet stores always have been, haven't had one in driving distance in years and I can't help but stop by and look at all the critters in them, I had to stop my self the other day from buying a baby hamster.. OMFG it was soooo freaking cute. Just weaned..but NOOO no hamsters, they don't mix well with rats, or fingers..LOL. So I let it be .. but then I was like OOOOO a bird, always wanted a nice little Cockatiel..but NOOO no birds think my new neigbors would kill me if I brought in a loud squeeker.. Plus my cats would have a field day trying to get at it.. Both are good hunters and being locked away for rattie playtime is hard enough without throwing a bird cage in the mix. But its so nice not having to order my bedding online anymore.. Plus I found a store here that sells the Mazuri Rodent Blocks.. so WOOHOO I don't have to order those or pay the $45 shipping and handling..LOL So it works out great.

And yes I still find my self getting lost down the endless roads and what not, even with my GPS screaming at me. Turn here, Do next legal U-Turn. I mean if they programed it to curse it would be yelling at me in all kinds of words. For just not listening half the time.

But I have to say I love the green grass its amazing what you can miss if you haven't seen it in a long time, But I could go without the backward step in weather, I left colorado and it was nice and warm and I'm in cold weather again..LOL but I guess that is why I have a closet full of sweaters huh.. Any whom nothing new other then that. I have a litter of Merles on the way and its exciting.. can't wait to see the little spotted buggers..
Till next time
ARSRats - Janine
So I'm so excited that spring is upon us, Life will be so much funner once the cold goes away, green grass, the smell of blooming trees and etc. its going to be wonderful. And best of all baby ratties!!! I have some good breeding plans layed down for the summer, right now as always they are tentative depending on the parents but I'm excited to get them started, my rats can't grow fast enough..LOL

So with spring comes the fun-ness of taking the rats outside for the first time in many years, I'll be able to let my ratties go out play in the grass, climb trees and etc. Can't wait to get great out door pics again, I've always enjoyed my rats playing outside and its also the best way to attracted new adopters..LOL.. I mean who can't resist a cute little bundle of bouncy ratness on green grass, playing 'catch me if you can!". yes its going to be a fun summer, in a new State..WOOO can't wait..
Found It!!

Okay so it took like 2 secs but found the News blog on LiveJournal, granted it hasn't been updated since winter, but I will have a lot to update on it in a few weeks. So check back often to see whats going on in the rattery, As for me.. Nothing new. Getting ready for the long move to NY, its exciting but very crazy at the same time, having to take the horses, the rats, and cats with me. The dogs are staying with my hubby for a few months while he finishes up things in CO. But i'm excited to finally get out of CO the wind sucks, the weather has been crazy and being 2 hours away from the nearest horse shows is killing my horses show careers, so I can't wait to have an indoor to ride in.. So woohoo for moving, But still sad as I'm leaving some great friends behind ,but thank goodness for Facebook..LOL what would the world do without it. OMG! I'm so addicted to Facebook its not funny.. any whom
That is all from me.
